Is Dissent Allowed?

The Atlantic is one of the most respected journalistic institutions out there. Dismissing it as fake news just because it challenges your narrative is absurd. The relentless cries of “media bias” and “free speech suppression” have become nothing more than performative noise. This story was gifted to the Atlantic through mistakes made by this administration. If we cannot admit this was a mistake, what exactly is a mistake?

This is a colossal failure, and the lack of accountability is indefensible. I have no problem criticizing every elected leader in this country from any political party. When Republicans were not in charge, they criticized nonstop and cried about freedom of speech. Now, they are in charge and they are still crying about the media.

Free speech? What’s really being said is: free speech is only acceptable when it flatters those in power. A journalist was added to a group chat without consent, reported the facts, and now he’s being vilified. That’s not bias—that’s journalism. Real, principled journalism. And The Atlantic is doing its job.

The goal here is crystal clear: shut down any form of dissent. A judge disagrees? Impeach them. A student protests? Deport them to a foreign prison—without due process.

Am I next? I keep posting on social media. Should I stop? Should I be afraid that speaking up means I’m putting a target on my back?

Because it’s starting to feel like I could be next.

Even some Republicans are openly admitting they view the education of students with disabilities as a waste—a “drain.” So when they slash special education funding and I protest… do I get deported, too?

This isn’t alarmist. This is exactly what is happening. And people are still saying this is fine.

People keep insisting, “Oh, it’s fine that they moved the Office of Special Education to HHS.” No—it’s not fine. You cannot relocate an agency that supports millions of vulnerable kids to another agency that is already severely understaffed, with no plan in place. That’s not strategic. That’s sabotage. And yet we’re still pretending this is smart business?

No. None of this is smart business. These eliminations and agency shakeups are going to hurt people in ways we haven’t even begun to process. Even if you hate government, even if you think it’s all red tape—you cannot eliminate these systems and expect people to survive the fallout.

Because this isn’t about efficiency. It’s about control. And if you can’t see that, it’s because you don’t want to.

We have toddlers in charge of war games, firing civil servants with no explanation, decimating the Department of Education and civil rights offices mid-investigation. And no one’s asking why—just cheering it on. Who benefits from this? Certainly not children. Certainly not the poor, the disabled, the working class.

Meanwhile, U.S. citizens and legal immigrants are being deported for tattoos. College students being targeted for protesting, disappeared into foreign prisons with zero legal process. Disappeared. That’s not freedom. That’s authoritarianism.

Let’s talk about our veterans—the very individuals who risked their lives for this country. The Department of Veterans Affairs is planning to cut over 80,000 jobs as part of a so-called “reorganization.” Veterans make up about 30% of the federal workforce, and these cuts mean thousands of them are losing their livelihoods. Services they rely on are being gutted, benefits slashed, and support systems dismantled. Is this how we honor their sacrifice?

And now, the administration’s actions are directly harming our educational institutions and scientific community. Columbia University faced a $400 million federal funding cut due to its handling of student protests. In response, it was forced to change policies under pressure—including placing Middle Eastern studies under oversight and halting cancer and COVID research projects that were federally funded. This is not about accountability—it’s about intimidation.

Law firms that opposed the administration are being punished—stripped of security clearances, blacklisted from government work. It’s having a chilling effect on the legal system itself. What happens when no one’s left to challenge injustice?

Public health is under siege. Measles outbreaks have returned. Texas has over 300 confirmed cases, multiple hospitalizations, and one child has died. There are bow two cases here in Western PA. This is what happens when leadership sows distrust in vaccines.

And cancer patients? They’re being directly impacted by NIH cuts. Trials are stalling. Research teams are dissolving. Real people—real families—are being left with fewer options, just when they need hope the most.

This is a full-blown crisis, and I’m begging people to wake up. Turn off the algorithm. Step outside the Fox News feedback loop. Read The Atlantic. The New York Times. The New Yorker. PBS. NPR. AP. Reuters. Ask yourself what’s actually happening right now.

This is bigger than party politics. This is about country. Democracy. Human decency.

And I’ll ask again: Even if you support every cut, even if you’re unbothered by who gets hurt along the way—what are YOU gaining? If the answer is “nothing,” and even one person in your life is harmed by this chaos, why are you okay with it?

Please listen—for my family, for the little girl in this photo who is being hurt by these big decisions, and for your country.
